Here’s some exercises that will help strengthen your baby’s upper body strength and have some fun and bonding along the way.

What you need:
supportive pillow
yoga mat or towel

What to do:
1. Lay baby face-down with her head and upper body extended over an infant support pillow or a rolled towel. Repeat the exercise a few times, allowing her to remain in the position only as long as she appears comfortable.

2. Standing up, hold baby face-down. Your arms should be at right angles with the soles of his feet pressing up against the crook of your arms. Gently move your arms up and down in a slow figure-eight.

3. Sit with baby on a yoga mat or towel. This will support your back. Bend your knees with your feet flat on the floor (like you’ve just completed a sit-up). Lean your baby face-down against your shins with her head pointed towards your knees. Gently place you back on the floor. Gently and slowly take hold of baby’s torso as you slowly raise your feet off of the floor. This helps your tummy muscles too!
